Symbian Shifts Mobile World to Open Source

symbion.gifSymbian's decision to make its source code freely available tips the scales in favor of open-source software in smartphones and could make it harder for Microsoft, and even other open-source platforms like Google's Android and Linux, to compete. Companies including Nokia, Motorola, NTT DoCoMo, LG Electronics, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, AT&T, Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics and Vodafone announced that they will work together to make the Symbian OS open source. They will offer it under a royalty-free license to members of a new nonprofit group called the Symbian Foundation.

nvidia.gifNvidia’s released two powerful weapons with its GeForce 9800 GTX+ graphics card: The company can now compete against AMD’s brilliant Radeon 4850 graphics card on price and the company finally has an answer to ATI's dominance in 3DMark benchmarks. You can bet the farm on Nvidia claiming the highest scores in the physics discipline. First impression of the PhysX performance of Nvidia’s latest cards by using the company’s ForceWare Rel177.39 drivers and an executable file named PhysX 8.06.12.exe. The new ForceWare driver has serious installation problems and the software felt a bit rushed to us. The problems have been corrected by now.

Bartronics India ties-up with LG Electronics

Bartronics India Limited (BIL) recently signed an agreement with LG Electronics, USA to enable it to deploy LG's IRIS recognition product - LG IrisAccess as part of its "Biometrics" suite of solutions. 

These products will be primarily used in access control applications and BIL can deploy the same in Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia –
including India and Singapore, said a press release.
